While mapping out my life today, I was had a few questions for you wiser, poor folk. If you have a college degree, how beneficial was your major in finding a job? My coworkers at a newspaper have degrees ranging from political science to English to education. And I've heard multiple times that as long as you have a degree it doesn't matter what it's in (except for specific jobs like nursing, etc.). Alternatively, I've also heard that "you can't do anything" with humanities, liberal arts and English degrees and that tech degrees are worthless because the job market is saturated with computer-degreed people seeking work. I'm supposed to have my life planned out (or at least choose a major) soon and was wondering what you thought. EDIT: Thank you all so, so much for your input. I haven't decided yet but now I have a little more perspective.
