I am a Black Widow killer. Yesterday I had a run-in with a widow. My hand bumbled into her thick web as I was watering my peat pots and seedlings, I knew instantly there was a widow hiding in the shadows. That's too close for comfort for me. For the most part, I will leave these beautiful spiders alone and let them do their jobs of gobbling up insects but when one strays into my territory (patio, garage, porch, automobile) she's a goner. It's a bit frightening to know that something that small can pack that much of a punch, enough to kill you if she wants to. This is another reason why I hate to do my own yard maintenance, I've got this fear of getting chomped on by a Black Widow. She's the only critter I'm fear in my yard.
