container gardening and The Winter

container gardening and The Winter

I know our first frost will be upon us sooner than I think. This is the first growing season that I’ve ever really gardened “on my own”.
The plants that are in the ground will stay there. I know most of them will either lie dormant for the winter and regrow next year, or they aren’t designed to survive the winter. So it goes.

But the pots I have on my steps…
One has marigold, another has pansies, and two more have catnip (the lavendar and nicotina never grew :(
What do I do with these plants? Do they regrow? Should I be collecting seeds from the marigolds? When is the best time to harvest my catnip?
Thanks in advance.
