credit card questions
I was just approved for my first real credit card. I wanted it to build my credit, and also in case of emergencies. (I just started a new job that will pay my expenses, and I'm not sure if they will be paying me directly or reimbursing me. I thought it would be wise to have the option of a credit card in addition to my debit card). Thing is, my credit line is a LOT higher than I expected- about a fourth of my annual income, to be exact. Does this hurt my credit? Is this usual to have a credit line so high? Should I call them and have it reduced? (I don't think I'll be tempted, but you never know). If I have it reduced, will I be able to get it back up at some point when I'm making more? If it matters- I have pretty good credit, but not much of a history. I have one store card that I opened earlier this year. I'm hoping to buy a house in a year or two. It's a student card, Visa, issued by Citi. Edited to add: I'm 23 and going back to college next month. Thanks!
