Cuke “How To” and Photos!

Cuke “How To” and Photos!

As promised, here is a photo of the cucumber climbing fence I made last night. Apparently, I need to have Brian drive the stakes in a little more, as they began to lean during the storm and created some slack in the fencing. Cuke Fence I used plastic fencing and twine purchased at Walmart and some 60" wooden stakes I got at the local ACO Hardware store. First, I had Brian drive the stakes in the ground for me, and I tacked the fencing to the stakes with a few strings here and there. Then, I kind of "sewed" the fencing to the stakes with the twine, then gently tied the vines to the fencing to give them the general idea of where to go ;) You save a lot of room by growing the cukes vertically, and, you will have nicer looking pickles (sans the yellowing skin on underneaths!). It is also MUCH easier on your back come harvest time! Here are some additional photos I took today for your viewing pleasure (click!): Inside Cauliflower Greek Oregano Up Close Garden June 27
