Cymbidium 4-1-1

Cymbidium 4-1-1

So I was at the grocery store last night and they were selling terra cotta pots. They had a few that were very deep and narrow--18" high by 9" across, I think. They're pretty rough but look like they'd be perfect for terrestrials that like to develop deep root systems. So what sort of treatment will these pots need? Won't the roots of the plant 'stick' to the pot, requiring me to break it when I repot the plant? I'm probably not going to find a plastic pot that will fit inside it, although I could probably line the sides of the pot with plastic. What sort of medium do people use? Should I soak the pot in physan or something?
