Hello all! I have a rather embarrassing question to ask. Well, last night I used my brand new pressure cooker for the first time ever. My mother actually was never very "domestic" so basically, I don't know how to do anything. Anyway, so I was cooking some goat that a friend had brought me with some Indian mutton gravy and I never heard the stinkin whistle on the pressure cooker! I kept waiting and waiting, heard a lot of steam come out but never the high pitched whistle that I have heard come out of other people's pressure cookers. To make a long story short, about more than a half an hour, I burned my goat, got a few good pieces out of it, but now there is a TON of black stuff on the bottom of it. It is soaking in water, with a little bit of dishwasher detergent right now. Does anyone have any good suggestions to get this burned stuff out, and any burned marks off of my shiny new aluminum pressure cooker?

Can anyone also offer any suggestions on what I did incorrectly? I tried to go off the the directions. It is a Denmark brand 5 qt pressure cooker.
