Domesticating the wild berries

Domesticating the wild berries

Hello everyone. I'm new to the group and was happy to find it. I have a question about taming wild blackberries. My property is literally overrun with thorny, invasive blackberry vines each spring and summer, and I'd really like to get a few stuck in pots so I can experiment with domesticated production. I'm wondering if anyone has done this and has tips. I get the feeling that even if I dig a bunch of them up, the best I can hope for is a lengthy truce. They seem pretty indestructible. But I wonder if I can't get a nice haul of berries out of potted plants before the birds beat me to 'em. So, any tips on capturing them and getting them to grow? And any advice about food or clipping or anything like that to encourage flowering and berry production?
