So I just received a GINORMOUS electric bill (which luckily I can take care of with some help from parents :/). Anyway clearly I'll have to change some of my electricity using habits. I know some obvious things, like turning down the A/C and stuff, but I wondered if you guys could answer some questions for me. Let's say I'm running errands, but have breaks in between and will leave the house, come home and grab a quick half-hour lunch, and then leave again - will it cost a huge amount of electricity to turn on the A/C again in that time (what with cooling the whole house down again), or is it sort of minimal? I know of course that it will cost me at least a half hour of A/C electricity costs, but will the powering up of the A/C be huge as well? Also, is using the dishwasher/washing machine/dryer a huge electricity draw? How about computers - should I shut them off completely or shut off the monitors? Also - is this question super annoying and should I go back to lurking for months? :) If so, I'm sorry, but I figured I'd draw on the collective genius of this little group instead of waging a huge google war.
