I looked through the memories but couldn’t find anything.
My fiance is having chest pains, we called the doctor to make an appointment but they told him to go to the ER, which is stupid from the way he described the pains, but ok, whatever.
How much, approximately, would an ER visit for chest pains cost (we’re guessing they’ll do some blood tests, an EKG, maybe a stress test or something on top of the cost of just going to the ER). We have insurance but if you can tell me about how much it would cost without insurance, I can figure out what the insurance will actually cover.
Thanks so much!
Laura
I live in the U.S. by the way, Michigan to be exact, and we’re looking at Henry Ford Hospital in Wyandotte, but any input from anywhere in the U.S. would be great for a general idea.
EDIT: Thanks for everyone who actually answered my question. To the people who are going “OMFG GO TO ER RIGHT NOW OMGZZZZZZZORZ!!!” please, kindly, keep your comments to yourself. We will go to the ER if we cannot find another way, but we’re trying to get into his GP, I think it’s ridiculous that they just brushed us off to the ER when I know that the GP can listen to his heart and at least take the blood tests/x-rays that would be needed. We will go to the ER if it is deemed absolutely needed but you know what, my fiance (not husband as you people are saying) is a grown man. He does not, right now, want to go to the ER unless he has to. I can’t force a grown man to do anything he doesn’t want to do. And yes, money is an issue, that’s why this is poor skills, I was wondering how much peoples ER visits had cost so that I can start figuring out how to pay for it when/if he does go. He’ll be going to the doctor soon under the guise of something else to try and get her to at least look at him.
And yes, heart disease is a big deal, but the majority of people who are sent to the ER with chest pain DO NOT HAVE HEART DISEASE. Maybe we’re taking a gamble, but this is what he wants to do. We would rather see an affordable doctor who told us to then go to the ER if that’s the case, then just jump to the ER on the advise of a woman who answers phones and a bunch of people on LJ.
