endless endless insurance problems!
so i'm not sure if this is really a poor_skills problem but i didn't know where else to ask this. has anyone else had experience dealing with cobra? i'm a college student and i got kicked off my parents insurance (without any notice whatsoever, we thought i was covered until 25 and we got a letter a week after i turned 23) so my father signed me up for one month of cobra while i apply to medicaid. cobra has been an absolute NIGHTMARE and i was just wondering if anyone else had any problems with them before, was there anywhere you could complain? is there anything i can do to hold them accountable for their actions? the problems we've had with them is that we signed up march 3 for one month of coverage, ending april 1st. but everytime i called them to use these services, i 'wasn't in the system for some reason', i'd have to reverify everything and insist that i should be able to see the dr. i was trying to see or get prescriptions filled since we paid them for this month and then they'd tell me, "ok, we updated the system but it will take 24-4 hours before the system shows this and before you can do anything." this went on EVERY.TIME. i called them! and i called them every 3 days because i'm an epileptic and i've been trying to refil my medicine before i run out of coverge and before medicaid accepts me. this messed up my getting other dr.'s appointments that i needed and refilling other prescriptions too. cobra told us, "well, you could have seen anyone you wanted and we would have reimbursed you later on," but i can't just go see my regular dr.s without insurance. and if its taking them this fucking long to even put me in their system to get the basic services we paid for, we really couldn't see them ACTUALLY reimbursing us so we didn't want to have to pay the high cost of seeing a dr. and getting new prescriptions without insurance after already PAYING for insurance. so finally my mother reamed them for all this a week and a half ago and got them to admit for their fuckup, that they'd mail me my last prescriptions (the medco department) and they'd mail them expedited since their dicking around caused me to lose so much time and regular mail wouldn't get it to me in time before the coverage ran out. its now the 27th and i STILL don't have anything. she called today and we got the "oh, the system doesn't show this, we'll update it now..." thing AGAIN, after calling repeatedly EVERY.WEEK. with these people and i still don't have my medicine, with 4 days of supposed 'coverage' left. so at this point, we've paid them but have gotten little to no services. i just want my goddamn seizure medicine before i run out of it and this supposed coverage i have. but i also want to do something to them for not giving me the services and coverage i should have gotten this month that we paid for. would complaining do anything? and if so, where would i even complain? should we sue? would we have a chance? or is cobra just notorious for this type of behavior and there's nothing else i could do? i really want to do SOMETHING but i feel so damn powerless. i mean, this is payment without services rendered, isn't it? any and all advice would be appreciated. hearing something positive would be great.
