fall vegetable gardening

fall vegetable gardening

So my veggie garden's summer plants (tomatoes, cukes, beans) are nearing the end of their productivity and I never got around to replanting the spring plant beds (carrots, lettuce, broccoli, potatoes, peas). In fact I still haven't finished harvesting the carrots! Ugh. They're so yummy, the carrots.. perhaps next time I won't plant so much. Still to harvest: sweet potatoes, squash, and a ton of dry azuki beans. According to my local gardening calendar this weekend's the time to plant: bush beans beets broccoli cabbage cantaloupe carrots cauliflower chard collards cucumber kale peas irish potatoes squash and soon, lettuce, spinach, onions and garlic. If I totally clean out all the non-producing plants I'll have two 8x20 beds to plant. I've never even tried to do fall veggie gardening before. What experiences have y'all had? What's your favorite fall veggie? Is it worthwhile?
