Farmer’s Markets

Farmer’s Markets

Taking advantage of your local Farmer's Market or CSA options is definitely a poor skill for me. :) It's that time of year for many places in the US where Farmer's Markets are booming! Crops that grow in abundance, like tomatoes and zucchini, can be had for cheap and you're supporting local agriculture and reducing the gas used to transport your veg to the store. It's a win/win situation. :) I just signed up for a CSA this year and have been documenting the process at my blog. For less than $20 a week I can pretty much get all the veggies my family of three needs for a week as well as eggs. I've also gotten fresh herbs so I can grow them in the back yard for easy cooking use. Of course the best poor skill is friendliness. I've gotten so many free samples of veggies at the market and a large amount of extra pieces of veg thrown in to my purchases just because I'm a regular, express genuine interest in the farms and the food, and am friendly about it all. I love this time of year :D
