First post!

Hello everyone, I recently moved into a home that has two 3'x11' built in garden boxes underneath the front windows on either side of the front door. I'm wondering what easy flowering plants (definitely perennials) I can put in them to bring some color into the front yard. The front yard also has a suuuper tall avocado tree, a few palms/pony-tail palms, and a row of 12-14' hedges surrounding the front gate. Although there are the super tall hedges and the palms/avocado tree, the front yard still receives a considerable amount of sun all day.....afterall, this is South Forida! I was considering some different colored Impatiens (a South Florida staple, I know) or Marigolds, flanked by perhaps a fern or two? Any suggestions? I am in Zone 10 if that helps!
