First time posting here…

Hi, I'm Melanie, 24, from Germany. I'm currently living in two rooms - one at my parents' where I'm staying over the weekend and my room in the student flat I'm staying in during the week. After having seen all those lovely rooms here, I decided to share (although it took a long while for me to take pictures without moving things around within a week). The post is rather image heavy! Let's start with my room at my parents. Most of the furniture is from when we moved into the house about 13 years ago, but I did get new tapestries at one point (and a new bed just a couple of years ago) This is the view from the doorway. My bed, my desk and my mother's exercise bike. The view you have when lying on the bed. The corner where everything gets dumped... old folders (in the boxes), a broken chair, art stuff and other things that I don't need for university and have no idea where to put it in the room. The view of my desk and the last corner of the room... namely the one where I store things for my hair as well as a couple of pictures. My desk up close. There's a hidden bedside table ("stolen" from my brother) with my old notebook (by now it's at my student flat) The shelf from the "dump corner"... The grey boxes hold the art stuff. There's also an old bag (broken somewhere for sure). The sign was taken by my brother the year I graduated school. It tells the student to be quiet/not to go down a hall which contains the rooms in which final exams are written. Part of my book collection. There are several hidden in the cupboard beneath it (at the foot of my bed)... Close up of one of the shelves... although I'm not sure how readable it is... or how many English books it contains (those tend to be spread even more) Even the space above my wardrobe is stuffed... I really need to throw more things away. My newest cupboard that houses DVDs within it and empty blocks/paper. The cupboard at the foot of my bed and the candles I put on top of it. I used to love them... and I still do. However, currently I'm lighting more candles instead of buying nice ones that I'll never light ;) The plastic flowers where all won at shooting galleries during local fairs either by me or family members who gave them to me. And the last picture for that room... a hidden puzzle. It's been there since before I had two rooms (and the increase of junk that went along with it) and put there for lack of other space at the time. For my student room, we'll start with the view from the door as well. My makeshift bed. The room is small enough that a real bed or a sleeping couch would take away more space and so far I don't have any problems sleeping on the floor. Looking into the direction of my desk. Looking at the door. And the other side of the door... incidentally, the mirror (and the door ;) ) is the only thing that's still in the position I had put it in when I first moved in. There's also a peak of my calendar from last year (which I found cheap in a 1€ store) My door with my bathrobe, towels, coat and my Victoria Frances calendar. That was a surprise Christmas present... especially since my mother only ever saw the posters and I never mentioned a name. The shelf right next to the door... It contains things for the kitchen (which my door leads to), CD's, DVDs and books. Although the books and DVD's are hidden by the blue box which holds random things and CD's for the computer. And a close up of the CD's. Part of my "wardrobe" and my night stand. The shelf that contains the latest university folders, random papers and stuff for my computer/printer as well as my IKEA lamp. My desk featuring both notebooks as seen in my other room (although only one always travels with me) and my writeable mouse pad. It's mostly the backside of something I printed that I don't need any more. It's good for when I need to write things down (especially since my blotting pad had been absent for quite a while after I spilled something all over the table) My beauty products... at least those I use daily. There are also my shoes. And to finish it off, a picture of my mirror. I wrapped lights around it about a year ago for Christmas and during spring I added the flower chain before eventually adding the red and blue ones. At the top is a ticket for a German comedian I had been to, an advertising card about Germany's Next Topmodel that I liked and a note my father left my brother and me once about something he brought from the baker (with a really funny phrasing which is why I kept it) There's also a post-it note with my progress in losing weight (measuring my stomach since it's all about fitting into a pair of jeans again) and at the bottom is something my mother gave me from her work as well as a copy of a postcard which has tons of people standing around one single person doing the digging with various management tasks :) That's it. I hope you liked the little tour (and I didn't add any big spelling mistakes without noticing)
