I took out a bunch of ugly and unfixably neglected pine bushes last summer. There was a scrawny, one-twig shrub had been trying to survive between them- I left it because it had just a few flowers and even something really scruffy in the empty gap was better than nothing.
I’m very glad I let it be, because this year, with a bit more space, it turned into this:
It’s very pretty, but since some prior house owner planted it, I have no idea at all what it is. Does anyone recognize it?
(This picture is a week or two old- the flowers are much more open now. They have 5 petals, and it’s definitely a bush that loses leaves over winter. I’m zone 5/6, but this may be blooming later than is typical as it’s in a rather shady area.)
