Hi folks, I'm posting on behalf of a person in another community, because I think it will be faster to get her the assistance she needs. She is in Georgia and wants to try Prozac (or generically, fluoxetine HCl) for her neurotic kitty. Sometimes you can get pharmaceutical samples or discounts, correct? Could anyone tell me how this works? I ask because she is on her LAST legs with this kitty and he is spraying her house into a stinky mess. They need to find a cheap/affordable way of fixing his behavioral issues, and I have suggested some crate-training tips for them but the only medication that might work that is better than what he is already on is Prozac! TIA, Jenny WTF EDITING because people apparently assume the minimum SMRTNS for LJ users. 1. This lady has already taken her cat to the vet. There IS in fact a lot of research on using Fluoxetine for cats and dogs with certain types of neuroses. He is already on a prescription. 2. He is fixed. 3. Y'all don't need to get so bent out of shape! If you can't answer the question then keep it to yourself- she has a vet, she is looking for a second opinion on his BEHAVIORAL issues, and he is not a FLUTD cat. 4. As I mentioned in my original post, he is ALREADY ON medication. Please to be reading clearly. Jesus.
