Hi everyone.
Have you heard about freegans? http://freegan.info/
“Freegans are people who employ alternative strategies for living based on limited participation in the conventional economy and minimal consumption of resources….” Kind of a hippie type thing, including dumpster diving, squatting and, most interestingly, working less/voluntary joblessness. (There may be some very interesting poor skills on the website – http://freegan.info/)
I’m interested in the philosophy of voluntary joblessness (or almost-joblessness) more generally speaking. Many of the members of this community are working very hard to make ends meet and to become less poor. Others may be voluntarily embracing poverty for various reasons – philosophical, political, artistic (unemployed in order to free up time and energy for personal projects), etc.
Is this you? It would give me great pleasure to know you’re out there, and in this community. What’s your story?
