I am asking this for my friend who is trying to fix his credit. Ok, so in 2004 he got a Capitol One credit card. He was working, he was paying, all was fine. But then he lost his job and he couldn't afford to pay the $1000 balance. So it went to collection. He says he stopped getting calls from them about 5 months ago. He recently landed a salary paying job so he has allot more income now and he wants to pay the $1000 he owes and fix/build up his credit. How should he go about doing that? Is it even worth it paying the $1000? I mean the bad credit flag is going to still be on his credit reports even if he pays it right? How can he build up his credit again? All advice is appreciated. Thanks!
