front doors leading to bedrooms

front doors leading to bedrooms

I live with my boyfriend in a little place, and the layout is so that our front door leads directly into our bedroom. While I have no problem with this as such, there are a few things that I've noticed about it which I want to rectify: 1. Now that it's getting colder, there's a horrible breeze coming through the cracks/letterbox in the front door. We have a curtain that covers it, and I've bought some of those long thingies that go at the bottom of doors to keep the breezes out, but it's still cold! I'd like to know, if you have experience of this (or just ideas!), what further things I can do keep the cold out! 2. This isn't really anything that can be solved, but I was just wondering if anyone else with a front-room-bedroom is bothered by this. I can hear everything that goes on outside. If someone walks past, I can hear their conversation. I can hear it when people knock on next door's front door, and it's so loud I sometimes wonder if they're knocking on MY door. Oh! And I hate it when people knock on the front door, it makes me unnaturally angry and reluctant to open it, because I just think, this is my bedroom, go away. Does anyone else feel this way? It's just that I was reading about how bedrooms need to be a place of peace and calm, and it's difficult to feel completely calm in here when I can hear everything going on outside and strangers can knock on the bedroom door! As I said, I know this can't be solved, but it was just on my mind and I thought I'd post about it and see what you all have to say about it. I guess I still have a few issues with the bedroom and need to vent about it haha. If you also have a front room that's a bedroom, what do you do to make your bedroom feel more private? Do you have any soundproofing methods? Any ideas/comments/suggestions or general rantage are welcome!! :)
