Frugal gift giving and hamburger helper

Frugal gift giving and hamburger helper

Hi folks, I'm thinking of giving those 'recipe in a jar' gifts this coming holiday season. Here is one link to a good site I found so far: http://members.tripod.com/~HeresPoo/ I did a google search of 'gift in a jar recipes' and it brought up tons of sites. If you have access to thrift stores or a place that sells jars in bulk, these gifts can be made even cheaper. Or one site I stopped at suggested using your spaghetti sauce quart jars which makes it even cheaper. Add a few scraps of fabric and some ribbon and voila, instant gift. This is for those on your list who like to cook of course. I did find some recipes for flavored coffees, which might be a nice gift for someone who isn't inclined to do more than boil water. I also found this site for a recipe called 'Almost Hamburger Helper': http://www.cdkitchen.com/recipes/recs/9/Almost_Hamburger_Helper531.shtml I know you can find hamburger helper on sale but I like the idea of having a base recipe to have on hand especially when winter hits. We like to buy our 'staples' like flour, dry milk, rice, noodles, etc. in bulk when we can so this could turn out to be a 'frugal' recipe. Ivy
