Frustrated, angry, and running out of options
For the past several weeks, we have had our ONE WAY road closed several days through the week with little to no notice. According to Kentucky State Law (KRS 179.370- you can find an online copy here), companies such as CSX (the railway company that owns the crossing) are required to provide another access route or passageway when a road is closed down. There is only one entrance/exit for our street of several houses and farms, and if there were to be a fire or other incident our homes would be destroyed. Legally CSX is required to provide us a way out when the road is closed. However, the workers have not done so and have been increasingly rude and volatile. One told me that the fact that I can't get to work because of the closing is "my problem, not his" and told my husband (a trucker who was stuck on our road because the road was blocked and subsequently lost the load) that he "will just have to lose his job and CDL." I have contacted the local sheriff, as well as the county attorney in regards to this issue. The workers informed the county attorney, Todd P'Poole, that they were done working on the road and that there would no longer be an issue. This statement was also promised to the sheriff’s deputies who were called out to investigate the closing. Today I came home to a spray painted sign that said "road closed Mon 6-22" There is no time on this sign nor is there any other notification. How do I get to work on Monday? I am sick and tired of this, and frustrated that no one is doing anything to help us. Does anyone know of anything else we can do?
