garden pests

garden pests

Something pesky has laid waste to my vegetable garden. It has eaten entire plants - including tomato plants that are usually less susceptible to these kinds of pests. The only thing we can come up with are deer. My vegetable garden is fenced, with raised beds around the perimeter so it is unclear to us how deer would get in there. Deer can jump broad, they can jump high, but maneuvering both is usually tricky for them. I know, I know. I should post pics, but i don't have any. The plants are eaten from the top. Any suggestions of what kind of critter it might be? Or how to keep them out? We were thinking of building a scare crow, and we do have dogs...
