Some pics from my veggie garden thus far:
There are also about 5 Early Girl Tomato plants doing variably well. A few of them also have their first flowers.
Something’s going after the chile plants (jalepeno, poblano, and serrano), nibbling on the leaves. Not sure what yet. My best guess is carpenter bees, only they’re supposed to make perfectly circular cuts in the leaves, not erratic like these:
One of the Hopi Black-Dye Sunflower seedlings coming up. There’s 9 of em in all, so far. I planted them as a kind of shade-screen to protect the cucumbers and eggplant from the mid-day sun. My hope is that by the time it gets really hot here, the sunflowers will be tall enough to shade everyone. But, for now, they’re just cute lil’ babies:
Surrounding the orange tree in a raised bed I planted Cosmos, Nasturium, various kinds of Marigolds, and German Chamomile, which are all supposed to benefit my garden by detering unwanted insects and attracting benefitial ones:
I had to dismantle much of my little herb garden and put it in pots, since it wasn’t getting enough sun where it was at.
Much more, but that’s all for now!
