Crocuses - yellow, purple and white - are now flowering in the orchard, so Spring is well on its way. Magpies are revisiting the nest they made in the big chestnut at the end of the garden. They built a huge structure last year, but didn't nest there in the end. I found out why my new Corylopsis only ever seems to have flower buds and no open flowers. Chui the cat has been eating the flowers. I watched him do it yesterday. He pulls down the branches, then holds the branch between his paws and lies on his back biting at the open flowers. I went out early this morning in the sunshine and frost, whilst Chui was having breakfast, and found some open flowers at last. They are so delicate! Pale green white.
