Garden wildlife

We have skinks hanging around our house. I hope their intentions are to keep down bugs and slugs and other bad things for the garden, and not just to keep startling me.

Garden wildlife

Garden wildlife The Madness (my crazy garden plan for 09)
At the beginning of April, the only bed that existed was the 10×10 one in the corner. Now the only one left to make is the pink wine bottle bed. I’ve gone from 100 square feet of growing space to about 635 not including the pots and I have a lot of pots.
Garden wildlife The Enemy
Wild bunnies are hanging out and I’m sure about to move in. I need to get more red pepper. I defended off some earlier attacks in the season. I hope I planted enough in a variety of locations that I can handle losses.
Garden wildlife Clearence
Lowe’s had caladium plants marked down to 50 cents. I couldn’t resist. They bring nice color to a partial shade bed.
Garden wildlife Maturity
My beans and peas are starting to flower. I’m not entirely sure how I’m going to harvest or what I’m going to do with them when I do. Any tips or links are well appreciated.
Garden wildlife Pepper
My peppers are really gearing up and producing.
Garden wildlife Tomatoes
As are my tomatoes.
Garden wildlife Banana Pepper?
I’m not sure if this is a banana or a jalapenos. I’m sure it will be evident soon when I try to eat one.
Garden wildlife Melons!
Despite having an early attack by a bunny, I only lost one plant. We got about 2.85 inches of rain this weekend, so everything’s looking great. I think the melons grew overnight after the rain.
Garden wildlife Cinderblock Bed
Minus a few of the insides of the blocks reserved for radish seed I’m going to pick up this weekend, this bed is pretty much planted. The big green things are little flowers I got from Lowe’s for 10 cents. I love clearance. This bed also has okra, tomatoes, sweet potato, sunflowers, and a few herbs.
Garden wildlife More hanging pots
We added a second line of hanging pots. These feature all tomatoes.
Garden wildlife Inside the fortress
I lifted the camera above my head to give a peak of what’s going inside the fortress. This is the one hopefully bunny proof bed I have. So far so good.

A couple of more of the skinks:

One of my coworkers is giving me a truckload of decorative cement border his wife no longer wanted. Now I have to figure out what I want to do with it all. These are the problems I like to have.
