Gardening Doldrums Update
I want to thank everyone for the advice you gave two days ago. This morning I got out and did some serious weeding in my wildflower/veggie bed. I brought the two stepping stones from the garage and moved brush to the front to be picked up. My husband spent the weekend trimming our trees and just last night we got a free edger from freecycle. So today I am happier about the garden in general. The only thing is I don't see how I will ever get any cantaloupes. The vines are limited to a small space, and they are very long but no babies yet. I thought I saw one the other day but I think it got eaten. I'm in Zone 8b I think (Austin, TX) and it's been in the 100s. Are they ever going to set fruit? Oh well. Here's a pic of my border-in-progress. These are test concrete cores from a construction company. They are about 5 inches in diameter and 10 inches tall. I buried them somewhat and painted them with acrylic paint.
