Getting Rid of Paper Wasps
I have a problem with paper wasps that are attracted to my hummingbird feeder. Since I realised that it was a problem, I switched to a type of feeder that they can't get syrup from. That reduced the numbers but there are still usually one or two as long as my balcony is in sun. They chase away the hummingbirds from the feeder. :-( I'm very nervous about wasps (got stung lots as a kid), so I'd rather have a wasp-free balcony. Living in an apartment complex, I can't start scouting out the nest (or nests) and I don't want to do anything chemical that would harm the hummingbirds. Another problem is that the area that I have control of is very small -- it's just the balcony. Pheromone traps assume that you can put them 20' or more away from where you want to sit. I've also not found any that actually control paper wasps (that's the kind of wasp with long, dangly yellow legs), only other types of wasp. Any other ideas for getting a paper wasp free balcony?
