Okay, what the heck kind of tree is this? In the fall, they’re covered in rusty-orange flowers. Pic is under cut. If it helps, I live in Houston. (Zone 9b)
Also, why saffron is so expensive.

This is the tree.
These are two saffron crocus flowers, and the saffron I was able to harvest from them. Three have come up so far. I think I’ll need to wait a couple of years to get a decent harvest.
