Glasses on the cheap?

Glasses on the cheap?

A few days ago I got my eyeglass prescription strengthened, and am now looking to get it filled. Now more than ever, cost is a large concern. For more than 10 years now, I've gone through Lens Crafters. I've tried others, but they're the ones I had best results with. However, they also charge for that. This week I will be visiting a local one and seeing if they have anything I like, and have them quote me a price if so, but last time it was around $300, and I just cannot afford that. I saw a pair of glasses at a Vision Center in Wal-Mart that I absolutely love. I asked for a quote, and with tax and everything they told me it would be about $200. I don't remember the exact amount. That didn't seem too bad. They also said they'd take about a week to reach me. I don't like Wal-Mart, and I really would rather not give them any of my money. However, when money is a concern, they're hard to beat. It was through this community and other places here on LiveJournal that I learned of $39 Glasses.com. I've heard a lot of good things about them here and elsewhere, and they were the ones that I intended to buy from initially. However, I'm thinking that glasses really are something you need to try on beforehand. And plus i'm just afraid i'd screw up the prescription or something somehow and i'd be stuck with something I couldn't use. So! What I need from you guys is for you to tell me any and all experiences you or someone you know has had buying glasses from Wal-Mart or $39 Glasses.com. Anything and everything, good, bad, or indifferent. Nothing you can tell me is too small. It would really be a big help to me, and i'd really appreciate it.
