Going on a grocery spending diet
I have a well stocked pantry and a bit of extra in the freezer, but I STILL keep spending too much on food. I'm good at shopping sales and using coupons. But, notwithstanding the great prices, do I really NEED to have enough canned things to last until mid spring? No, no I don't -- I need to use the cash to pay off my stoopid student loan instead. I suppose the psych types would say this has to do with not having had enough to eat as a kid, blah blah blah, and that I'm trying for a sense of security by having a lot of food on hand. That's my theory, but knowing that hasn't gotten me very far. Does anyone else do this? I really want to break this habit. Did anything work for you? So last week I resolved to be on a grocery spending diet, and am not spending anything on food until at least the end of January. I will cook with and eat what I have on hand. Even if it drives me batsh*t craz(ier).
