Grocery List Help
The last couple of months I know I've spent between $75-100 a month on food. This is waaaay too much. I wasn't thinking things through properly when I signed my lease and rent is taking up almost all of my income--(Currently trying to get a sublease and move to a cheaper place). So I'm trying to trim down my shopping list. This is my trimmed version from combining the last several months worth of purchases (I keep track of money spent in Excel) and the approximate price. Grocery List: Item Price Bagels $2.50 Banquet Meals $3.00 Bread $3.00 Canned Soups/Pasta $3.00 Crystal Lite/Drink Mix $2.00 Easy Mac/Instant Food $2.00 Eggs $1.00 Granola Bars/Poptarts $2.00 Litter/Bedding $5.00 Mac'n'Cheese $1.50 Milk 1 Gal Total $3.66 Paper Towels/Napkins $2.00 Pasta Noodles $3.00 Pasta Sauce $1.67 Potato Chips $2.50 Ramen Noodles $1.00 Sandwich Meat up to 2 packs $4.00 Shredded Cheese $1.50 Sliced Cheese $1.00 Toilet Paper $3.00 Tortillas $1.00 Veggies (Frozen or Salad mix) $4.00 Total: $53.33 And even though I have a list that supposedly is only $53 a month, I still spend way beyond it. So I'm hoping you guys can look at my list and offer substitutions, additions & subtractions! Thanks so much in advance! P.S. Sorry it is all scrunched up...I don't know how to fix that. *EDIT* A couple quick ones here. The prices on some of those things are total over the month, such as I'll go get bread and milk twice during the month. And I buy almost all generic foods. Also, anyone know how to defrost a freezer, I know I can google this but I was hoping people had personal experiences they could share?? I can barely fit anything in mine cuz it is mostly just a huge block of ice.
