Ground Cover Recommendations

Ground Cover Recommendations

I'm looking to get some ground cover recommendations for dry, clay-ish soil, partial shade, sloped yard, with poor drainage. ...does such a thing exist? LOL I'm in Zone 6, near Colorado Springs, CO, at 6400 feet elevation. The soil in the backyard has been amended...in 6 veggie plots, each about 4x4. We're going to try to spread that around a bit, but, the pathways between our plots pretty much stayed hardpacked dirt with a lot of clay. We're interested in just...not like some sort of lush green grass thing going on, but some kind of ground cover that's mostly green, to stop erosion, look better than bare dirt, and that doesn't not need a ton of water (because it's quite dry here) or maintenance (because of weird backyard shape and fences and the fact that the house is built into a hill, the only mower that could even get back there would be one small enough to carry there). We're at a loss! Any ideas? Thanks!
