Hard times.

Hard times.

Back when I was fifteen my family ran into a patch of bad luck. As I recall, we had planted cotton on the 200 acre farm that we had mortgaged. At the time, the market price of cotton was 3 times higher than it had been the year before, but unfortunately that year brought the worst infestation of weevils that our area had ever seen. The bank forclosed on the farm.... and we had to sell several of our outerbanks properties just to keep the other 17,000 acres of farmland in operation. To make a long story short.... for my sixteenth birthday, I had to settle for a lexus instead of the hummer that I asked for. I was so devastated when they showed me the new car that I smashed dad's 56" color tv.
