Hello everyone- I'm new here. What a great community... Just to give y'all a bit of background... I'm 19, and living with my boyfriend and our roommate. Right now my boyfriend and I are just trying to save up so we can get a car and go to school. It's been hard... he recently just got his hours cut back at work because the company he works for is evil/is going under and all the stores' labor was cut. I myself got passed over for a promotion for which I fully deserved... but anyway. We don't have much money at all, but we're happy and we get by, somehow. But lately things have been getting more and more difficult because of my boyfriend's job. He's starting job searching tomorrow but we need money now. We balanced the checkbook and found out we are $200+ short of what we need to pay the bills. I've put my couch and entertainment center up for sale, cut back on ALL the "frivolous" spending, but it's not going to be enough. So.. I have a few questions. Is is true that if you unplug your electronics, that it will save more money on the elecric bill? What are your favorite recipes that include a lot of rice? I have A LOT of minute rice and I'm getting tired of just eating it plain or mixing it with beans. Do any of you know of a guide to shopping in bulk? We have a Sam's Card, but not a lot of money to spend, so we have to sacrifice variety for quantity. What can I buy that can be used for a lot of different things? Also for those of you who lived in Texas, I found this website that puts all the electric companies (and their rates) side by side for comparison. We're switching to Ideal Energy. http://www.powertochoose.org Thanks for reading... it's been hard for me to write all this.. I have too much pride, especially when it comes to financial issues... anyone else with me on that one?
