I have a nice big front yard (about 1/3 acre) that I'm finally going to be able to start working on this year, but I have a dilemma: the yard is dominated by a massive old oak tree that I desperately love but that shades the whole yard. I need suggestions for shade plants! I prefer the wild, overgrown look of a cottage garden rather than a manicured look, and would love to fill up the margins of the yard with taller, bushy things that block out the neighbors. I live in Portland, Oregon, so the climate is pretty mild. It doesn't freeze much here, but it's only hot for a couple months of the year. Thanks for any suggestions!
