Please don’t turn this into a pro v. pro debate, as that’s not the purpose of this community.
I have a close friend in WY whose gf needs an abortion. I’m in Alaska, so I may be getting some facts wrong, but I can only go on what I’ve been told. I hear that she can’t get an abortion in WY (but can get sliding fee -type aid for other woman’s issues), and can get an abortion in MT but has to pay full price (as aid is only allowed for cases of rape and incest, and this is neither). Even pooling their resources, they can’t afford the $400 charge, which also means they can’t afford to drive much further than Billings, MT, as they can’t afford a hotel stay while she recovers.
I am aware of rue, but don’t know of anyone who’s had experience with it. Even assuming it works, I don’t know if they have access to any, or if they’d be willing to try it.
Do you have any suggestions on what groups, organizations, or even specific doctors’ offices they might contact for payment plans, reduced fees, etc?
