Help for a new domestic.
Hi everyone! I got married just this last June. Before that I lived with my parents, and did pretty much no cooking ever. Now I am a SAHW, which I love, and am now responsible for three meals a day. No complaints on that front, either. My DH is amazing and great and would eat whatever I cooked, even if it was the same thing for all three meals for the rest of his life. So far I'm not a bad cook, and have had some fun experiementing on occassion. This was really fun at first, but now that I am home full time, I'm feeling more of the weight of my responsibility. Mainly, I have totally run out of ideas of different things to cook. I have maybe five totally different recipes that I rely on a lot, and I'm just getting bored with them. My mom wasn't a cook at all, so I don't have much from her. My MIL is a huge cook, but I really don't like her style, if that makes sense. I'm not convinced it's healthy at all. I hit up recipezaar and allrecipes quite often, but I still get overwhelmed. My question for you guys is - What are some of your favorite fall back recipes? They can be casseroles, take two hours or take 10 minutes, I don't really care. They can be vegetarian, ethnic, just about anything. Not just dinner either, but easy breakfasts or lunches, soups, anything! I'm looking for things that are varied, but with simple ingredients, or things that I can substitute pretty easily. Also, balanced and healthy would be awesome, but not totally needed. Some ingredients I use a lot - Fresh garlic chicken breast (I've seriously never cooked with dark meat! I've got some cut up fryer pieces I need to use though.... and I can't seem to think of anything to do with chicken breast except bake it like shake and bake, or cook it in my cast iron after seasoning it) sauteed or steamed zucchini (my fav) rice, homemade egg noodles lentils, oatmeal, beans pork chops, ground beef potatoes Of course, that isn't everything I have, just what I fall back on a lot. Thank you so much! My husband will appreciate it.
