hi! i’m getting totally screwed!
i have charter cable/internet/phone. my package is supposed to be $105 a month. for the last eight months my bills have been at least $300 a month. they charge me for between 20-50 PPV or on-demand movies a month. the only people that live in my house are my boyfriend and i, neither of us rent movies from the TV. most of the time the movies get rented when we are both at work. i've put a parental pin on it that only i know, i've made it so my account can't rent movies, and i have made umpteen appointments for a service tech to come out and see if something is wrong with my cable box. they've never shown for any appointments. i spend about 5 hours a month on the phone with them. most of the time they tell me it's fixed, and then i get the next month's bill and find out it was never actually fixed. i've wrote to the CEO of the company last month and then again this month. today i got a phone call from the west coast service manager. he clearly didn't really care in the least, credited me with $133, told me he'd "look at" the rest (i highly doubt he's going to do this). that's all well and good, but i've been charged about $800 for all of these movies, i've ended up paying for a few hundred just so it didn't go into collections, and i have a $600 balance with them. i'd love to just have it turned off, but i feel like if i do that they'd never work with me. how can i fix this? how can i get them to remove these charges? how can i stop getting charged $200 extra dollars every month? secondly, my boyfriend made a payment to them over the phone on friday for $115. i was in the room and heard the whole conversation. he told her about three times it was for $115. when it came out of my account this morning, it was for $155 dollars, and thanks to BofA, they ordered my debits after that, so my account is negative, and once they slap the fees on, it's going to cost me a fresh $175 extra. YAY! this is the second time charter has put the wrong amount in, this is he first time it has screwed me. i called my bank to dispute the charge, they told me it would take about three months before they could do anything, that i should take it up with charter, and if charter credits that extra amount then BofA will reverse the overdraft fees. so i i called charter and they told me they have no record it was for $115 (although they also have no record it was for $155) and that they would "look it over" and get back to me in six weeks (again, i highly doubt this is going to happen). i feel like i'm losing my mind. i can't believe that writing to the CEO yields no results, that talking to the west coast manager yields barely any result. i don't have this money, i really just want to shut the damn cable off, but i want them to work with me. any advice on any of this crap?
