Hired muscle update
A couple of weeks ago I warned my next-door allotment neighbour that hired muscle would be arriving soon, that is, she could expect to see somebody she doesn't know working on my plot. She immediately said 'You could hire me!' I politely declined, because being the neighbour, she might get a bit too involved and what I want is somebody to shift my bank as a simple paid job. But the idea has grown on me. Today I spotted her from the window, walked round there and asked if the offer was still open. Yes, it was. We've agreed that this is a business arrangement, that we won't fall out over it and that it's to be done my way. She's thrilled because she believes in no-dig gardening but she loves digging, and she's run out of places to dig-and-make paths on her own plot. Her shovel was in my bank before I'd even finished giving her the job. My OH is round there now, supervising, and I'm trying not to watch from the window for more than 1 minute in every 5.
