house plant time

house plant time

my grandparents gave me a pothos they had outside all summer as a housewarming present (yay! recycled houseplants!) it looked really gross when i got it, so at my mother's recommendation i cut off all the straggly overhanging bits to re-root (okay so it was all the overhanging bits) and they're doing happy in a glass on my windowsill. however, the actual pothos plant, all the stems where i cut them are leaking fluid of somekind. i don't really care if i kill the plant (wait, its a pothos, you can't kill pothos) but i was just wondering what was going on there... and question two. my gramma has thirtybillion spiderplants and told me i can take some of the baby spiderplants that grow off the main plant. my question is about potting. do i just stick these in a pot? should i let the roots develop in water first? you kids are smart, and i figured you'll be able to help me. i mulched my garden this past weekend. my peonie bush died because my mailman is too fat and lazy to walk up the two stairs to our front door so he steps on it EVERY DAY. this irks me because well....it was a $70 peonie bush. i know it was little, but that's not fair. there are some small buds poking their heads up, so we'll see how it is in the spring, but i've mulched it extra good (on the recommendation of my boss at the garden centre where i work in the summer) *snarl* so i put a big "DON'T STEP ON MY PEONIE BUSH" sign on my mailbox. and another that says "PLEASE USE THE STAIRS" i watched him ginore them yesterday. i hate mail workers sometimes. no wonder the only other nice garden on my street is fenced in with the mailbox on the OUTSIDE of the fence. heh. oh well. thanks anyways evelyn xoxo

I dont know about the other plants but on the spider plants you cut them from their mother plant and i put the babies in a glass of water and watch the roots form but dont let to many sit to close bc they will get intertwined then it is really a pain to get them apart and sometimes they break so I normally wait till the root is about 2 inches and then i will pot them about 2 inches away from each other in potting soil oh and its best to clip the babies in the fall root until spring then plant this works for me have fun
