Two coworkers and I are planning on moving in together over the summer. We want to find a three-bedroom place for $600/month max, but if that fails, one of them is willing to consider buying a house and then renting a room to me.
I have no experience looking for a house to buy, and all the listings I saw list the total purchase price; nothing monthly. So what kind of price(s) would translate to a $600 monthly payment, so I’ll know what to look for?
Does the kind of loan you can get matter? The friend who’s considering buying makes $12/hour, and has good credit (around 7-something), if that matters.
On a semi-related note, I have several debts that have gone to collections agencies, and am strongly considering filing for Chapter 7. Are there any special considerations I should consider before I move? Mainly change-of-address things and the like.
