How do commercial nurseries do it?

How do commercial nurseries do it?

I started my own tomatoes and peppers and I thought they turned out pretty well. Unlike my first try last year where they turned out long and limp due to bad lighting, this year I changed my lighting at things turned out much better. Except for the romas, which never germinated. None germinated last year either. I think I have bum roma seeds. Last week end I put one cherry and one beefsteak in the bed and I purchased a roma seedling from Hick's, a local nursery. This roma made my babies look like ninety pound weaklings. It kicked sand right in their faces. It was a Hulk Hogan to my Steve Urkle. To make me feel a little better about it, I'd like to hear the kinds of things nurseries do that I can't.
