This year I inadvertantly had a bit of an experiment in tomato growing. I grew many of my tomatoes fairly closely together (18-24″) in groups of 8-10 plants surounded by five foot tall, welded wire fencing. The tomatoes grew well, and fairly healthy. Others I place in wide spacing 3-4 feet, surrounded by their own wire cage. These grew large as expected, and the yield per square foot was much higher, and obviously they were much easier to harvest.
In neither case, did I remove suckers, or actively support them, after setting up the fencing.
So I’m really curious, how do you grow you tomatoes?
