How Tiny Can One Girl Go?
I'm making $9.45 an hour. I'll be tight on $375 a month + Electric. But a girl needs her own place eventually, right? I should go cheaper, but look at this place, tell me what you think for the price. Is it WORTH THE COST for the value of what's offered? I found a very.. well I don't know how to find it place.. It's for $375/month. Give me your opinion on this place. Okay imagine something that is well something I would picture being ideal in Japan or in the United Kingdom. It's SMALL! BUT this is a ONE bedroom apartment. So when you go into the building, there's the front door and as you walk in, there's a door right to your right where the person below me would live. Then you right away after that quick landing start walking up the stairs to the second floor. Right at the top is the door to my apartment. So you enter into this apartment and close the door behind you. Now here you stand with a door to the left which leads into the bathroom, a door in front of you which is a closet. Lets look at the bathroom first. It's SMALL! You couldn't have two people in that bathroom at once (one taking a leak and one brushing their teeth, there isn't enough room. If the sink was a little lower you could easily brush your teeth while sitting on the toilet). The tub is CLEAN though! The bathroom is CLEAN! Okay so lets go back out.. now as you exit, the "front door" is to your right and the closet is to your left. Following me yet? It's not that big guys! Okay so step beyond those doors and to the right is a hallway and straight ahead is the door to the bedroom. Step into the bedroom. The bedroom is big enough for a queen sized bed and a stand-up dresser. You couldn't center the bed in the room but you could put it against the wall and be okay. The closet is quite tiny, but I don't have many clothes anyhow. I couldn't fit a tall and a long dresser in here, no way. So now lets go back to the hallway and go down to the living room and the kitchen. So you're walking down the hallway and off to your left is the living room. I would guess you could fit a 2 person loveseat in here, a small TV stand with a TV, a not too wide at all bookshelf, and a table big enough for your computer. As far as a spot for a table for eating? Umm Not possible. To the left is the kitchen. Now picture real good a European sized kitchen or an old very efficiency sized kitchen. Two people couldn't go into this kitchen together and cook. There's BRAND NEW cabinets and a BRAND NEW (never been used before me) fridge. The fridge isn't one of those taller than a 5'9 person.. it's about the level of my eyes is the top of the fridge. Right to the right of the fridge is an oven. A TINY oven. It does have four burners on it but picture your burners on your oven. Now picture them RIGHT NEXT to each other. That's how big this oven was. I'm not even sure you could fit a large pizza in there (maybe that's a good thing?) Then right to the right of that is a small bit of cabinet to prepare your food. Put your right elbow out directly to the right of you. Now from your left shoulder to about your right elbow is about how wide this counter-top is. Now turn around 90 degree's. There's the sink. Again BRAND NEW, it did have two separate parts of the sink so you could wash some and put some to dry. Okay now come out of my tiny apartment and gather on the floor because we're still not sure if I'll be able to FIT my loveseat couch through that front door. The carpet by the way is BRAND NEW CLEAN. It's that basement type carpet, rugged but not gross or anything. Sit down. Now.. everybody Tell me what you think? Do you think it's worth it. Perks: CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN! I really learn how to micr-live Ceiling fans in both the bedroom and the living room. It's a corner apartment. The living room has TWO windows! probably about $50-75/month cheaper than other studios / 1 brs around here. and definitely cleaner Finally I'd have MY OWN PLACE!! Cons: Tiny tiny tiny It seems like an awful lot of $ for how tiny it is, but just because I'm a cheap wad. No Air Conditioning so I'll have a window unit (they give it to me). Would you spend more to get your OWN place without any roommates thats clean? Or would you go to a bigger place with annoying roommates and pay less? It was suggested that I updated with a floor plan. This is a HORRID drawing of what it looks like please note that the blue scribbles is the "oops I suck at dimensions and this space really doesn't belong here, it makes it look way too big scribbles. It's far far tinier than I make it look here. http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb155/raiinstorm/verybadfloorplan.jpg
