i’ve heard of the ‘three sisters’ technique of planting corn, beans, and squash together, and would like to try the combination of pole beans and corn. i’ve heard that you just drop all the seeds into the same hole at the same time, but i’m wondering if the corn shouldnt have a head start on the beans so theres something for them to climb up. if memory serves me right, it seems that the beans were much quicker to sprout and grow than the corn was last year when i planted them separate.
should i plant them at the same time? or should i plant the corn first and after it sprouts THEN plant the beans? if i do it that way, do i risk disturbing the corn seedlings tender new roots? has anyone else tried this? how did it work for you?
