my tomatoes are falling over. i have the typical round wire tomato cages, which are just tipping completely over under the weight of so many green tomatoes. i also have some metal spike/poles driven a foot into the ground with the tomato plants gently wired to them, and even those have started leaning.
we’ve had a strangely cool summer this year with lots of temps in the 80s, but very few days in the 90s, which is not typical at all of our hot and humid summers, and while i’ve enjoyed it immensely, my tomatoes have not. i’m only just starting to get red tomatoes this week. as a result i have TONS of green tomatoes hanging on all the plants, some as large as oranges. i’m growing amish paste tomatoes that are indeterminate, and i’m still learning how to properly prune them.
