I Hate Money…

I Hate Money…

I really hate banks. I mean, absolutely hate them. If I were single, I would go straight cash, and call it a day. However, my fiance is TERRIBLE with cash. If he has it, he HAS to spend it. Doesn't matter how much it is, it's gone. (He's been known to spend an entire check in one weekend, simply because he had it in cash, as opposed to putting it in the bank). We have one credit union within 20 miles of us, and it's right at 20 miles away, so unless my job magically discovers the joys of direct deposit, and we find some way to get the fiance's money there without driving 20+ miles once a week (he gets paid cash), that's pretty well out. So, I come to you for tips on going all-cash. What can *I* do to keep him from spending it all? And if your suggestion is "hold all the cash, save what you can afford for him to spend each week," give me good suggestions for hiding the cash, because he will definitely take "a little," then tell me later. (If he was any good with that, I might not hate banks so much...) I do all of my banking online. I know that when I check my account on Saturday afternoon, the scripts for Friday have already run. So by that logic, whatever my account shows on Saturday afternoon should be what it says Sunday AND Monday, until they run again on Monday night (since nothing goes through on the weekends). For the second time in as many months, I've checked my account on Saturday afternoon, and when I checked again Sunday, things had been posted/cleared on Friday that WEREN'T the day before. When I called last month, the woman said, "Well, it shows that it posted Friday, and you got an overdraft charge for it." I see that. But my point is that it wasn't there all weekend, and suddenly, it posted on Friday?? Really? I let it go, since it was just the one charge. But this time, it's five. $175 in charges that weren't there Friday OR Saturday. But when I checked yesterday, Sunday (on my birthday, no less), there were 5 charges "posted", but not cleared. And usually when something posts on Friday, after I've made my deposit, it shows as insufficient funds, but the fee is waived, since I DID make a deposit before it was posted. So I also come to ask for tips on how you explain that to them, when as far as THEY can tell, it WAS there Friday, before my deposit? If it's my fault, it's my fault. But if it wasn't there Saturday afternoon, it certainly wasn't there Friday! Any suggestions?
