I’m back again with another update. Most exciting in my garden currently is the arrival of the pods:

Bean and pea pods that is. Overall things are coming along in the garden. Nothing too traumatic to report.
In case there are any other Mississippi Gardeners out there, I want to recommend the Mississippi Fruit and Vegetable Book. It was a great read filled with useful information and suggestions. I found it very useful as a beginning gardener.

Less overwhelming
I posted some other kinds of skinks a few weeks ago but I haven’t seen them lately. Now I’m seeing the blue tailed guys. |
 |
Tiny
My beans and peas have really taken off this week. |
 |
Pods
My bean box is filled with little pods. |
 |
yum
And some not so little. |
 |
harvest
I guess I better figure out when and how to harvest them. It looks like I’ll have a nice turn out. |
 |
outline
I like how you can see the outline of the peas in that pod. |
 |
castor
My husband is growing castor for his research project. We have several plants at the house. I think their seed pods are very interesting though we don’t keep them around for too long in case some random kid shows up and decides to eat it like candy. |
 |
Definitely Banana Peppers
I posted a few weeks ago not sure exactly what kind of peppers I was growing and after my first harvest from last week, they are definitely sweet banana peppers. |
 |
Cantaloupe
My cantaloupes are doing well. This one has leaves that are bigger than my hands. |
 |
Fortress
My crazy rabbit proof fortress is still holding up to be rabbit proof!
I’ve got cucumber and various squashes flowering right now. |
 |
Off with his head
This is the headless remains of one of the fake snakes I have in the Fortress to scare off bunnies. Apparently something thought it was real and tried to eat it. I found it about 8 feet away from where it was and headless. We’re thinking it was probably a hawk. |

Hanging in there
Something, probably a squirrel took the top off of one of my ichiban eggplants this week. It had to be the one that had a flower just about to open. The plant is still alive so maybe it will come back. |
