I have irises…

Lots and *lots* of irises, and they're all white. When I neatened the main bed earlier this spring, I pulled up several hundred-I quit counting after the first 250 or so. It's not that bed that's the problem, it's the others scattered randomly throughout the yard. One patch is 2'x6' or so, another patch is round, about the size of a card table. There's no rhyme or reason to their layout, and frankly, I only need so many white irises. But I hate to throw plants away, especially if I can use them somewhere else, and I have a long section of chain-link fence down the side of my driveway, separating our property from the right-of-way. What I'd like to do is move them to along the fence line, but is it too late to do it this year, or can I move them late this summer/early fall? I'm in southern VA, zone 7a/7b, depending on which map you look at. The tops of the iris leaves are already going brown, by a couple of inches.
